Professional Standards

Admission and Career Counseling Centers will not just help students to settle on the choices students have to make presently, but to give them the information and abilities to settle on future career and life choices as well. National Council Higher Education, Professional Standards for counseling centers will serve as a guide for the ethical practices of all counselors, supervisors, or directors regardless of the level served to outline the mindsets and behavior counselors need to meet. The Professional Standards for the Career Counseling Centers will be prepared to support nationwide centers for planning interventions related to Counseling under NCICU. National and international centers are always welcomed to provide their feedback or suggestions to improve these standards. No part of these standards may be reproduced, stored in a system, or transmitted in any form or by any means (photocopies, recordings, scans, or any other electronic or mechanical means) without the prior permission of the NCICU.

The Professional standards will help centers to develop, implement, and assess their counseling program to improve student outcomes. The NCICU career readiness Standards are for every student enhancing themselves in knowledge, skills and attitudes for achieving academic success, college, and career readiness as well as social or emotional development. Each standard will have corresponding level abilities that will be specific and measurable that students attain as they make progress toward the career. NCICU Counseling Centers Standards will be a unified set of principles guiding counselors in preparing effective future programs in the areas of professional practice and ethical behavior. The professional and ethical standards will be intended to implement counseling programs and advocate on behalf of the profession.
